Twitter’s algorithmic timeline to feature only verified accounts as declared by Elon Musk.

Elon Musk has announced that Twitter will only show verified accounts on its algorithmic “For You” timeline from April 15. Musk clarified that “verified” bots that don’t impersonate humans are eligible to be featured. The move means that Twitter’s algorithmic feed will be filled by paid accounts as well as brands and officials’ accounts. The change comes after Twitter had only 385,000 paying users while it is removing legacy verification checkmarks of famous verifies on April 1. Musk also said that going forward only verified accounts will be able to take part in polls. However, it is unclear if that applies only to polls created on Twitter. The announcement follows Musk’s poll asking people if he should step down as CEO. By the end of it, 57.5% voted in favor. Several people have suggested that bots accounted for many of these votes. Musk previously took note of a user suggestion to limit policy voting to only paying subscribers.
