Paramount+ has ordered a new Star Trek series called Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which will take place in the iconic San Francisco training facility. Set to air in 2024, the show is designed to attract a new generation of viewers to the franchise by telling the story of a group of young cadets who learn what it takes to become Starfleet officers. The recruits will grapple with friends, rivalries, first loves, and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself. CBS Studios, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment will produce the series, with Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau serving as showrunners and executive producers. The network has not announced any casting decisions.
