Rocket Lab, a space systems company that designs, manufactures, and sells satellite components and spacecraft, has secured a major contract to provide reaction wheels to a mega constellation customer, according to its CFO Adam Spice. The deal is worth “thousands” of reaction wheels per year, with a base price of $100,000 per unit. While Rocket Lab has not disclosed the name of the customer, Amazon’s Project Kuiper and OneWeb are potential candidates. The contract is a major win for Rocket Lab’s revenues, with its space systems business bringing in over 70% of company revenue compared to launch in 2022. The company’s backlog also doubled last year, reaching $503 million.
