Ming-Chi Kuo predicts AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) with USB-C port to launch by Q3 2023.

Apple may release a new model of its AirPods Pro with a USB Type-C port later this year, according to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo, who has correctly predicted Apple product launches in the past, responded to a tweet claiming that iOS 16.4 refers to new AirPods with the model number A3048 and a new AirPods case with the model number A2968, by suggesting that this was likely the USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2. The current AirPods Pro uses Apple’s proprietary Lightning port to charge. If Kuo’s prediction is accurate, the new AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) model could enter mass production by the second or third quarter of the year. The company has previously replaced the Lightning port with USB-C on recent iPad models and the Siri Remote for Apple TV, and is believed to be adding USB Type-C ports to the iPhone 15 when it launches later this year. However, there is no word yet on whether other Apple accessories will also be updated with USB Type-C ports.
