Lamborghini has unveiled the Revuelto, a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) that reconfigures hybrid technology to offer increased performance rather than just cleaner emissions. The Revuelto — or “high-performance electrified vehicle” — uses the PHEV configuration to increase “dynamic bandwidth”, while emissions are reportedly reduced by 30%. The car runs on a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 that works with three electric motors, mounted in the front axle and integrated into the transmission. The central power unit is a lithium-ion battery pack consisting of 108 water-cooled pouch cells delivering a total power output of more than 1,000 brake horsepower, capable of reaching 217mph with 0 to 62mph in 2.5 seconds.
