Google and Replit unite to rival Microsoft’s coding tools.

Cloud software development platform, Replit, has announced a partnership with Google Cloud that will provide developers with access to Google’s infrastructure, services and foundation models for generative AI. Google Cloud and Workspace developers will also be able to use Replit’s collaborative code editing platform. Microsoft, which owns Github and is an investor in OpenAI, will provide competition in developing the most attractive platform and tools for software developers. Replit claims that more than 30% of code written by developers using its Ghostwriter application is generated by AI. The application uses Google’s language models to suggest code blocks, complete programs and answer developers’ questions instantaneously.
