The Destiny 2 expansion Lightfall introduces a new subclass called Strand that offers a fresh and exciting gameplay experience compared to older subclasses. Even if players swap out certain abilities within Strand, the fun and novelty of the mechanics keep players engaged. The Lightfall campaign also introduces two unique characters, Rohan and Nimbus, who are the protectors of Neomuna. Nimbus, a nonbinary character brought to life with a lively and nuanced performance by Marin Miller, is a standout in the game and offers a refreshing change of pace from the typical grizzled and stoic characters found in Destiny 2. While the campaign does have some repetitive missions, the post-campaign Season of Defiance provides exciting and challenging gameplay as players aid Queen Mara in freeing prisoners from the hands of the Witness. The expansion raises questions about the Veil, Neomuna, Strand, and the Witness that could lead to more interesting content in the future. Despite some pacing issues, Lightfall offers enjoyable gameplay and engaging characters that leave players eager for more.
