The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has filed a complaint against cryptocurrency exchange Binance, accusing it of deliberately breaking the regulator’s rules in trading derivatives such as Bitcoin futures. The complaint alleges that Binance should have registered with the CFTC to legally allow US residents to trade derivatives on its platform. Instead, Binance is accused of encouraging Americans to use virtual private networks to hide their IP address and location while trading on the exchange. Binance is also accused of hiding the fact that CZ, the founder, was trading on his own platform through accounts owned by him.
