Gamers who use Apple products can now officially use 8BitDo’s gamepads, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs, due to recent firmware upgrades and Apple’s iOS 16.3, iPadOS 16.3, tvOS 16.3, and macOS 13.2 updates. While the compatibility is currently limited to certain models, such as Lite SE, Pro, Pro 2, SN30 Pro+, SN30 Pro for Android, and Ultimate Controller 2.4g, more options are “incoming.” 8BitDo’s gamepads boast ergonomic designs, customizable features, and, in some cases, a nostalgic aesthetic that makes them a popular choice among mobile gamers. In addition, the controllers can easily switch between Apple devices and consoles or PCs, making them a convenient choice for players on the go.
Although 8BitDo’s gamepads are not the only option for mobile controllers, they are highly regarded among enthusiasts. SteelSeries’ Nimbus and Stratus controllers offer an Xbox-style design and are another popular choice. Meanwhile, the Razer Kishi is the preferred option for gamers looking to mimic playing on a Switch or Steam Deck. However, more choices for Apple-friendly game controllers are always welcome, especially with 8BitDo’s desirable features.
